Ayia Mavri Winery - Kilani Village

The Ayia Mavri winery is located in Kilani Village. Kilani is situated in the heart of the "Krasochoria", the traditional wine villages in Cyprus, at the foothills of the Troodos range. Its 900 meters altitude, and its climate and soil are ideal for the production of quality wines.

The vine plantation dates back hundreds of years in this region and until recently every dwelling at Kilani housed a small winery with its owner/grower fully equiped for the production and transportation of wine to its final destination and consumer.

We, at the Ayia Mavri winery, have been planting our own vines with the traditional local and foreign grape varieties for the production of award-winning white and red wine. We use the indigenous varieties Mavro, Ofthalmo, Xynisteri and Muscat of Alexandria as well as Cabernet, Grenache, Carignan and Mataro.

The history of the Ayia Mavri winery (founded in 1983) goes back to our father and grandfather's wish to have their own vineyards and turn into wine their own produce. Following in their footsteps we continue the tradition using new technology and expertise. The winery is now equiped with a pneumatic press, stainless steel tanks, chilling equipment for cold fermentation and stabilization, a bottling plant and temperature-controlled underground cellars for barrel ageing in French oak casks.

Our annual production is 50,000 bottles of wine. Expansion has been deliberately cautious in order to maintain the high quality of the wines produced.
